Preparation
The preparation of beet hummus recipe is as simple as the traditional hummus recipe. It is to grind all the ingredients together, if possible, in a blender or food processor (which will allow us to prepare the recipe in a moment).
If you are going to use chickpeas boat, we suggest you first smooth chickpeas under the tap with the help of a strainer. If you urge you to cook at home, you will have to leave the chickpeas to soak the night before (at least 8 hours of soaking). The trick is to cook the chickpeas throw water (no salt) once it is boiling. It will take about 2 hours to finish cooking. Then drain and is just cool. The measure dry chickpeas will be about 150 grams.
On beet to help the blender is recommended that you first cut diced cooked beets. As happens with beets, you have the option of using beets already cooked or cook at home. As with chickpeas, if you cook beets at home, Throw it into the pot when the water is boiling. The cook takes about an hour and you can see that is by sticking a fork point.
Regarding the tahini (sesame paste), say that always brings a touch of flavor to the hummus and also adds calcium to the recipe. Sesame is the vegan ingredients with more calcium. However, depending on where you stand can be more or less difficult to find tahini, so if you do not have it by hand, without the tahini, the recipe will not suffer too much change as far as taste is concerned.
Finally, just to remind you how important it is that you are not straining any seeds of lemon. The bitter taste of lemon pipes ruins the taste of our colorful beet hummus.
